What are Immediately Loadable Implants and Immediate Implants?

Immediate implantation - Immediate implantation delayed

Sometimes it's an unwanted diagnosis: After assessment of all other possibilities, the dentist and patient reach agreement that a particular tooth needs to be extracted.
But before taking the next step, one should at least consider the best solution for replacment.
A removable denture is uncomfortable and isn't liked by everybody. A fixed bridge is usually the only choice when the neighbouring teeth are also effected, then this still needs to be capped anyway or an implant is not possible.
In all other cases the implant is the best way forward.

Immediate implantation

It is vital that immediately after the root extracton, that an artificial root in the form of an immediate implant is placed in. This is usually possible in the majority of all extractions. The bone, that held the tooth in the jaw, is now fixed to the implant and is not dismantled. After a recuperation of 3 - 6 months, the implant can then take a crown. Until then, the tooth space is provisionally filled with a temporary crown.

Delayed Implantation

If it was not possible to implant an artificial root during the extraction or it was missed, the implant is still possible within the healing extractation wound.
However this should happen no later than 1 - 2 months after the root has been removed because otherwise too much bone has already been lost.

Late implantation

If the extraction wound has already healed, or the bone seems partly or entirely broken we use the late implantation technique. The majority of implants today usually belong in this category. At the same time, sometimes it's necessary to reconstruct the bone in circumstamces where there is large bone loss or in the aesthetic area. This delays the whole treatment for further months.

Immediate Laodable Implants

Usually the artificial roots are submerged under the gum and will be not be available for 4 - 6 months. In the recuperation phase, they may not be loaded or moved.
In special cases: - where good bone is available - stabilization of the implants through neighboring teeth or neighboring implants the geometry of the implants can be done.
The new implants can be used after a short time if there are no complications.
Therefore: One should think about the replacement of a tooth before it is taken out!
